A Step Above
Founded in Sweden in 1969, Pictura's humble beginnings were the vision of one man - Erik Arpi - and a product base consisting mainly of yarn and knitting supplies. To diversify, Erik began to print reproductions of famous Scandinavian and European artists as posters, postcards and blank cards. As sales started to grow, so did the company, adding branches in Norway, Denmark and Germany in 1975. The lure of the USA market beckoned and, in 1980, armed with little more than a handful of samples, Erik moved temporarily to New York and established Pictura, Inc. in the states. While the prints and posters gained a foothold, it didn't take long to realize blank notes were not the future of the company. In 1982, sentiments were added to the cards. At the same time, Pictura introduced little-known artist, Lisi Martin, to the market. Her incredible talent portrayed the delightful world of children with extraordinary charm and sensitivity. In the late 1980's, Pictura released the "original" Year Card. This phenomenal product paved the way for a long-line of successful personalized gift items ranging from magnetic pads, address books and key-rings to children's stickers and stuffed bears. Over the years our range has grown and diversified. The once "fine art" line has expanded to include the popular humor ranges of Dolly Mama and Eric Decetis, the sophisticated and elegant Premier gift line featuring Indigo Moon, and the fashionably chic "Head Over Heels" collection. Although our products and styles have evolved, our commitment to superior quality - in artwork, design, production and customer service - has never waivered. Now, three decades later, we continue to enjoy success, but are ever aware that our success is due solely to our dedicated customers.
